We need your fiery balls! As much as our lady members are marvellous, we at en Choir are struggling to give our sound the proper oomph that it deserves. Have you ever listened to a song without a good bass line? It sounds rather peculiar because as choir leader Emily Peasgood says, “Basses add Beef”. For this reason, we are putting out a plea to all the men in Whitstable and the surrounding areas. en Choir is a fun way to spend a Wednesday evening. There is no audition and no need for a musical background, all we ask is for enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. If you’d like to know more, please contact us or come down for a free trial session at 7:30pm on Wednesday evening at St Andrew’s Church Hall in Whitstable.
Excited is an understatement as to how en Choir are feeling about trying out our brand new song! We are about to learn ‘Hit the Road, Jack‘ by Percy Mayfield but with a twist: choir leader Emily Peasgood has an experimental new technique for the choir this week so we are all looking forward to seeing how it goes. If you would like to give en Choir a try then please come along or contact us with any queries.
Some of our members went to Turner Contemporary in Margate on Saturday 11th March to perform Birds and Other Stories, a composition by choir leader Emily Peasgood. The notes sung were worked into a drawing known as a graphic score, pictured to the right, and was created by Emily and illustrator, Joe Inkpen. The performance was a tremendous success with a large audience and we are all waiting with baited breath to see what our talented leader does next! Please feel free to contact us with any queries.
We at en Choir are desperately in need of men for our bass section. Last week, keen volunteer altos Freya and Elli helped to beef up the male voices and even got into character with some facial decorations! If you know of any men who might be interested or you’d like to have a go yourself then just show up or contact us with any enquiries.
